tricks used by imposters in Morocco and maybe somewhere else

I found an interesting post on Gay Romeo. It is google translated from French, so I apologize in advance for the crappy language.

Many Moroccans and tourists have asked me to post potentially aggressive individuals and other money-askers (I do not exclusively mean Escort profiles, they are as dangerous as these are the same people - they have the right to exist on the Commercial rating of this site - anyone can open an Escort Profile, it is totally free).
But know, brave tourists, you are in Morocco, so as soon as you see a black profile, it already feels like a scam, which is the tourist trap. Often they are active all XXLLLL, ben see - the size of their penis grows every day, ah if only this was possible....
You log on at night, you will only find them ... They are mischievous, pay attention - but they are not intelligent.
Of course, you will not be a moron making Western-union transfers or other ways; of course you will not give them access to your bank account remotely.
And even if this warning does not worry you... make sure the day of your meeting you only present yourself with your clothes and 50dh in your pocket; no phone, no watch, no jewelery and of course without papers and nothing else - show amnesia of your hotel name when you're molested ... maybe then, prison time will pass you by.

We advise you even as a precaution before all meetings, send someone a message and tell us your date of meeting and the profile name of the person you are meeting, it will be useful to you if you are standing before a judge (your sentence will be less because we can prove your consent to the meeting and that of your abuser of course).

Look at gay romeo profiles telling real stories like: TOURISTARNAQUE, Miseengarde, Attentionauxblacks, Blacksattention
I remind in vain that homosexuality is forbidden in the Kingdom of Moroc - 81 cases of imprisonment in 2014, 116 in 2013 ; tourists be warned.

You can even send your comments on profiles to Gayromeo organization (but still copy the messages of your correspondence or when the request for money is outrageous) - thank you already for your many messages.
Otherwise a good holiday - many Moroccan are worth being encounters.

List constantly changing - Marrakech list ONLY - list put on a Daily basis - these gentlemen identifying their names here and renaming live - watch also has a migration of their profiles of other northern cities and the coast:

I invite you to the utmost vigilance against the al gay black community of Morocco which benefits from the criminal situation in Morocco which criminalizes homosexuality and to demand ransoms.
Well seductive young members and offer here on the site to collect sex and the evidence of the sex act (condom with semen laptop with gay movies etc) and then simulate their mother has discovered the site gayromeo (for exampe they left their pc open in the house) and she is of course very angry with the son and she threatens to statement to the police against ransson payment by stating he is a minor. I invite you maximum alertness to the African negro community. It is a new mafia that settles in Morocco and which takes advantage of the penalization of homosexuality

Everything begins with an invitation you send a message or happens by chance on your profile. A guy offers you a warm meet-up at home just for fun. You like the profile and appointment is made.
You come, you meet the guy, he offers you to get into his apartment, he is nice and maintains the conversation. Arriving home, he undresses and asks you to do the same. He lies down and begins to rub against you .; you still want to take a shower but he says he is in a hurry and he now wants to enjoy and see you again for a long evening. Why not? you say yes. When he ejaculated, he gets up, offers you to go to the bathroom, what you're doing.
When you go back, he will tell you; "That is 250 euros, honey... a handsome guy like me does not fuck for free !!!" You're going to refuse, the apartment door is locked and you can not go out, he points a gun at you or into you by the neck if you don't pay .... You put your hands in your pockets and you realize that he has already taken everything, including your money and your mobile. As you have nothing more he continues to require its € 250 and you said he will go with you to the ATM and you'd better give him the money or he calls his friends / accomplices or cops (as Homosexuality is illegal in Morocco).
Finally you go to the ATM, you give him the 250 € and you lose everything you had on you. He insults you and leaves while laughing and you stay like a fool on the sidewalk.

In a homophobic and corrupted Muslim country what can you do? I have found a solution. Educate people on this site (Gayromeo) and inform users like you.
This is often a gang of Blacks, French and often not Moroccans (but now other Moroccan scammers are starting to use this technique) and set traps and extort people (mainly white) unaware of the dangers of this genre. Non Moroccan Black often live by sharing their apartment with their friends ... who are never far away. It was reported that some take video and use it as a means of blackmail you. Real Moroccans will bring nobody at home for obvious reasons of discretion and gossip.
So if you are contacted by a guy with picture preferably looking for guys 30-70 years and offers you to go home, know that it will not be for your beautiful eyes, but only for your money! If you're OK no problems, but if you do not agree, know that it will be very dangerous for you .... so ... Mistrust !

PS: How can (partially identify this kind of scam:
1 scammers often seek European 30-65 years and show their dick to bait you.
2 they often receive at home (danger, see above)
3 avoid receiving them at your home (danger of scandal in the building) have friends at home at least initially
4 the profile is new, (easy to control with the number of visits) because they are quickly identified and often change profile
A reader sent me this message seems interesting for me to communicate:
"Hello, I am French, it makes 6 years that I live in Morocco, I have fallen for profiteers, but after a year I find a trick to avoid problems, I ask before the meeting a scan of the national ID card and send it to me on skype. already on the sites there are only 10% of them valid and of those 10% maybe 3 are serious and they accept by saying "yes you are right "

i would never send a scan of my ID to a planetromeo!

Do not be afraid to go to the police (especially tourist police in Marrakech) if something bad happens, you can always say you were tricked into something and they put some drugs in your drink. If you were invited at the guy's place, you know where he lives. The police are used to gay stuff and the tourists are much too valuable for the country, so the Morocco guys will be always wrong (or go to jail for a longer time than you...). If they tape, they tape the scammer too, so it means you are both having sex. Just pretend to have to take cash out of an ATM and go directly talk to one of the cops hanging around in the city, just say you're tourist and they bother you. They'll disappear like wind.

Colonial times are over... Righteously so!

According to MC92 the police is your best friend in Morocco.
Well, the days that foreigners go free and have more privileges or protection then locals are over, thank God for that.
The Moroccan goverment is seriously making work of stamping out sex tourism, straight and gay alike. Moroccans are getting fed up with their sons and daughters being abused by foreigners who think they are above the law and feel that their money can buy anything without consequences.
So, if you think you can run to the police when you are involved in a scam, think again!
Best case scenario: your pasport will be taken and - involving your embassy - you will be deported. Worst case scenario: jail time.
It happens more often then you think, but usually they tend to keep it quiet and out of the press.
Because of my line of work I have lot's of dealings with European embassies and the stories I hear from my contacts will shock you. You'll be surprised how many gay guys get in trouble every year.

The scam explained to you above happens rather often. Most guys involved will not talk about these experiences, it's quite a shameful and painful ordeal to go through, so it's not frequently reported on sites like these, except for the few brave souls who did put their negative experiences on this or other websites.

Sex tourism - with all the cheap flights heading to Morocco - is becoming a plague. Before, from the seventies untill the turn of the century, locals didn't notice what was going on, but with the number of gay (and straight) sex tourists increasing to a tenfold and the too obvious behaviour of gays hunting for Moroccan dick, people are starting to notice what's going on. Hell, it even made a few stories in the press.
Foreign guys hunting and harrassing Moroccan boys and men who are not interested in this kind of trade is getting super annoying. Apparently some foreigners tend to believe that all men are willing subjects, which, of course, is not the case.
Don't treat Morocco as a candy store where everything can be bought for money. If you go for the hunt, please at least make sure you're not bothering people who are not interested in this and let them make the first move. Respect the local culture and act accordingly. Don't flaunt your sexuality like you're in a gay parade, nowadays people rather see the gay tourist rather leave then come...
Even Moroccan gays are tired of the negative stereotype it gives when the only interest gay tourists have is sex. It hurts their emancipation.

Paedophiles stay home! Keep your wicked fantasies to yourself and most of all keep your hands of minors! This will not be tolerated anymore in Morocco, righteously so!!!

In short: travel the country, enjoy it's amazing culture and hospitality, if your lucky you'll meet nice guys to hang out with and even have sex with, but please don't go unashamedly hunting for it, this will not be tolerated anymore. And if you're foolish enough to get involved in a scam: good luck to you... You'll need it.

    Stay safe! Respect!

Elias, did you actually read this thread talking about scams used by moroccon guys to trick foreign gays? It's not about colonialism or pedophilia! You should try being a single male european tourist looking in Marrakech and see how many sex offers you get without asking anything to anybody. And then start talking about who's exploiting who!

I think its important to note that in many cases there is no exploitation on either side.  I have been with quite a few Moroccans and we simply enjoyed the company of the other.  Many many Moroccan men are very friendly and inquisitive and I have found do like foreign men.. I have been asked on only a few occasions for money.  Most of the guys I've been with have not asked and just enjoyed the sex.  They need to get off and there are many westerners who are more than happy to oblige.

I think it is important however not to treat the country like a big brothel so I get what Elias is saying.  Take it easy and be respectful and discreet.  I think taking that approach you will be far less likely to get into any issues.  I've never met someone off the street for example - you are asking for trouble.. Best way is to chat with a guy online, meet for coffee in a public place and get a feel for the guy..  Using this approach i've always found quality guys who are themselves respectful and very charming.
